The 2024 “Clinton County Community Champion” (C4) Awards

Starting Monday, November 4th, the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce, along with the Chamber’s 2024 Premium Sponsor - the Clinton County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), want to highlight the stories of the Clinton County citizens, employers and employees, and organizations who are making an impact in our community with the fifth annual "Clinton County Community Champions" (C4) Awards

“Since our start in 2020, we have received over 240 nominations and have honored 87 recipients,” stated Dessie Rogers, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce. “We’re thrilled to yet again partner with the CVB to recognize our fellow businesses, community partners, and citizens who work tirelessly to make Clinton County a wonderful community to live, work, and visit. Whatever the endeavor, big or small, these people deserve to be recognized and applauded for their efforts. If you know of a worthy nominee, then please consider them for a ‘C4’ award.”

This year, we are again taking the C4 Awards to the next level by announcing our award winners live at the CVB’s Annual Meeting on Friday, January 24th, 2025, at the historic Murphy Theatre in downtown Wilmington. The evening will feature a ticketed VIP dinner reception, the CVB annual presentation and live awards ceremony, music and entertainment, and more to be announced.

“This will be an amazing evening for the whole family to support our community and all of the local champions who go above and beyond for Clinton County!" stated Susan Valentine-Scott, Executive Director of the CVB, "We had such an outstanding community reception to last year's event, and hope to make this year even bigger and better. Come dressed to impress with our ‘Prom Night in Paris’ theme!"

Nominations will be taken for awards in the below categories: 

  • Healthcare

  • Education

  • Business

  • Non-profit

  • Youth (18 years and under)

  • Citizen

  • Public Service/Government

Nominees should exemplify one or more of the following, during the course of the current year (2024):

Exceptional commitment to our community by helping with a special project and/or ongoing activities

• Unselfish leadership, creativity, cooperation, and hard work in the service to others

• Inspiration to others as a role model

Whatever the endeavor, big or small, these people deserve to be recognized and applauded for their efforts. If you know of a worthy nominee, then please nominate them for the consideration of an award.

Nominations:

The nomination is a simple process and you can nominate yourself, a company or organization, an employee, an individual, a young person, or anyone else who lives and/or works in Clinton County whom you believe to be worthy. You are welcome to make as many different nominations from the seven categories as you wish and you can nominate the same person or organization in as many different categories as you deem necessary.

 

How to Nominate:

Nominations may be submitted beginning Monday, November 4th, and must be received no later than Friday, December 6th, 2024.

Nominations must be submitted to the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce via the designated options:

2. Mail in a downloadable form to the Chamber, PO Box 826, Wilmington, OH 45177 (mail-in applications must be postmarked by the deadline date of December 6th to be accepted). CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT THE PRINTABLE FORM

Nominations of any form (online or mail) will not be accepted past the deadline date of December 6th, 2024.

Eligibility:



  • Nominees must live and/or work in Clinton County and business/organization nominees must have offices in Clinton County (may be for-profit or not-for-profit).

  • Nominations may be self-nominated or nominated by another person.

  • Nominees cannot be a member of the judges’ panel or member of the judges’ immediate family (see below for more information on the judges' panel).

Judging:

The judging process will take place in December, and will be completed by a panel of Board Members of the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce and the Clinton County Convention and Visitors Bureau:

Nominees cannot serve as awards judges. All eligible nominations received will be judged by this panel whose evaluations will determine winners of the “Clinton County Community Champions” (C4) Awards from among the nominees under consideration. 

Notification and Recognition:

Winners of the 2024 “C4” Awards will be revealed and recognized at the CVB’s Annual Meeting held at the Murphy Theatre on Friday, January 24th. The CVB will also hold a VIP Reception prior to the Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony, and there will be music and entertainment to conclude the evening. Every nominee will receive an invitation to the event, and tickets will go on sale to the public in December.

Air Transport Services Group (ATSG)

They are specifically recognized for their support of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and because ATSG paid more than $57,000 of shipping costs for the mailing of these books, all enrolled families in Clinton County have been able to receive free books for their children between birth and 5 years old.

Richard’s picture shows up next to ‘Cheerleader for Clinton County’ in the dictionary! Richard is tireless at representing everything that is great about Clinton County from jobs to schools all across the US, all while volunteering to mentor kids in the Clinton Massie School District and fitting this in with one of the most stressful director jobs at the Wilmington Air Park, Line Maintenance.

Mckinzie Weiss

For the last 3 years, Mckinzie has been working to beautify the markers of veterans in the county. To date, she has cleaned and restored nearly 300 stones out of the kindness of her heart and respect for veterans, receiving no funding for the expense she incurs.

Jim Williams

Noble, considerate, and kind, Jim has selflessly demonstrated that cleaning litter and showing up to fill that need are important when you care for your community, as he does.

Jeff Murphy

Jeff serves on the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team covering all of Clinton, Highland, and Adams Counties for disaster response calls, as well as installing free life-saving smoke detectors in homes along with many other service efforts throughout our community.

Elevation Community Church

Throughout 2023, Elevation Community Church in Blanchester has spent countless hours service projects such as re-painting parts of the high school, patching pavement at the schools, planting flowers at the schools and giving away over 200 backpacks FILLED with school supplies for children as well as special events like the Night to Shine Prom. 

Clinton County Trails Coalition

As a Board member of the Clinton Co. Macey Mann

She loves to help in every way she can- with anything and anyone! Macey also enjoys frequenting the Martinsville Village Council meetings and she has volunteered to help with small projects and enjoys offering new ideas to improve our community!  Several members in the Martinsville Council have joked that she is the future Mayor because she is interested in helping our community and is dedicated to donating her time and volunteering!

Marilyn Hatfield

Marilyn is committed to the community by uplifting others. Her kindness and generosity of spirit is inspiring. She serves others in many ways: as a student ambassador at the Clinton County Youth Council, as a member of her Girl Scout, as an athlete in Special Olympics Programs and as a Clinton County Farmers Market youth advocate.

Brylin Ruddle

Brylin displays unselfish leadership and an exceptional commitment to our community in many areas of his life. Brylin is always looking for a need in the community that he can meet. Among many other projects, for the last 5 years Brylin has decorated thousands of Bags of Love valentine boxes that he has delivered to elementary schools in Clinton County.


Aidynne Tippett

Aidynne [is] committed to giving selflessly of her time and … She is involved in so many service activities within her church, as well as her school and community.  She goes out of her way to include students who are new to the district and makes everyone around her feel valued. 

Lena Malott

Lena is a 9 year old 3rd grade student here in Wilmington., and She also has Type 1 Diabetes.Lena is constantly advocating for herself and all those around her that are different, not afraid to have the biggest voice in the room to make sure everyone is treated with kindness and respect.
