Top Ten Benefits of Chamber Membership

The Chamber of Commerce offers a wide array of benefits to our members that help to promote, enhance, and serve businesses in Clinton County. Our benefits are as diverse as our members, and we are happy to meet one-on-one with each and every member business and organization to ensure that you receive the most of your membership.

Contact the Chamber team today with questions or for more details regarding any of the below benefits at 937-382-2737 or info@wccchamber.com.

#1: NETWORKING

Robust business-to-business networking through Chamber events, including the monthly Economic Network Alliance, and business-to-consumer connections through our nationally-recognized Local First Clinton County campaign.

ECONOMIC NETWORK ALLIANCE:
The Chamber has partnered with the Clinton County Regional Planning Commission to host a monthly Economic Network Alliance meeting. Each meeting features a speaker that highlights unique programs, organizations, and issues in our community, as well as an opportunity for businesses to meet and connect with each other.

The Network Alliance is hosted by the Wilmington Hampton Inn & Suites at 8AM on the first Thursday of each month.

LOCAL FIRST CLINTON COUNTY:
The Chamber’s “Local First Clinton County” campaign directly connects our members to the greater community. We promote our members and their jobs, events, and coupons through weekly emails sent to ~5,000 community members. We also utilize this community network to send and share member information through our Local First CC Facebook page and Instagram account.  The Local First CC campaign also features the annual $25 Days of Christmas promotion.

#2: VISIBILITY

The Chamber website receives ~100,000 views per year, we have ~4,000 followers on social media, and we send member information to ~6,000 local business & consumer emails every week.

Our members are also listed in the annually-printed Chamber directory. In 2017, we distributed 10,000 copies to subscribers of the Wilmington News Journal, the Fayette County Record Herald, and the Highland County Times-Gazette, along with Chamber members and new residents and businesses coming to the area.

#3: MARKETING

Each of our members have access to promote their business, events, jobs, and coupons through a self-managed profile on our Chamber website, through our extensive Chamber and Local First email and social media networks, and through Chamber annual promotions including the $25 Days of Christmas.

**CHAMBER FACT: Other online job boards start at $300 a month to post your positions! Our members enjoy UNLIMITED and FREE job postings throughout the year!**

#4: SUPPORT

We provide one-on-one business support, in addition to our regular Coffee with Colleagues sessions. We also provide information on (and help host) business trainings/education throughout the year.

COFFEE WITH COLLEAGUES:
The Chamber’s “Coffee with Colleagues” is regularly scheduled throughout the year as an open and informal time to stop by the Chamber office to receive one-on-one support, brainstorming, and assistance with whatever issue that your business or organization may be facing. The Chamber team is always available to schedule individual support or training sessions with our members at their convenience.

#5: CREDIBILITY

“A national survey of 2,000 adults reveals that being active in a local chamber of commerce is an effective business strategy because two-thirds of consumers believe that such companies use good business practices, are reputable, care about their customers, and are involved in the community.

The study, conducted by The Schapiro Group, an Atlanta-based strategic consulting firm, found consumer perceptions of chamber members to be positive in many ways:

When consumers know that a small business is a member of the chamber of commerce, they are 49% more likely to think favorably of it and 80% more likely to purchase goods or services from the company in the future.

  • If a company shows that it is highly involved in its local chamber (e.g., is a chamber board member), consumers are 10% more likely to think that its products stack up better against its competition.
  • When consumers know that a national restaurant franchise is a member of the chamber of commerce, they are 68% more likely to eat at the franchise in the next few months.
  • When consumers know that an insurance company is a member of the chamber of commerce, they are 36% more likely to think favorably of the company.”  (The Schapiro Group, 2012)

The Chamber offers a variety of exclusive discounts to our members through our partnership with The Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance (SOCA) to help them save money and grow their businesses.

SOCA Benefit Plan

The Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance has joined forces with the Northern Ohio Area Chambers of Commerce, the Central Ohio Chambers of Commerce, the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber to form a self-funded medical benefit plan aimed at small employers with 2 to 50 employees.

SOCA recently received authorization from the Ohio Department of Insurance to form the Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance Benefit Plan.

The SOCA Benefit Plan (hereafter, the Plan) is a multiple employer welfare arrangement. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield provides claims administration and stop loss protection. Participating employers are required to maintain membership with a Chamber of Commerce that is authorized to offer the Plan. Initially, distribution of the Plan is limited to Anthem Champion and Elite brokers who have completed specified training. The Plan is governed by a Board of Trustees elected by participating employers.

State law requires the Plan to have a minimum of 300 enrolled employees. Efforts are under way to begin operations on May 1, 2016 if the minimum enrollment is met.

The authorization from the ODI comes after nearly three years of vetting the idea and planning among various partners, according to Matt Appenzeller, Executive Director for SOCA. “This is a great example of Chambers of Commerce and our partners throughout Ohio coming together for a common goal of providing value to the business community,” he said. “We have great partners. I think we’re all pretty excited to get started.” The SOCA Benefit Plan will be offered through approximately 250 Chambers of Commerce initially.
